Description
The Airport currently has a multi-disciplinary design-led framework in place with ‘tier-one’ providers and is in the process of procuring a ‘tier-2’ framework for multi-disciplinary services (including design services). This procurement exercise is for the establishment of a framework for construction related multi-disciplinary professional services (excluding design related activities) with 'tier-one providers' where fees for professional services are anticipated to be in excess of 100 000 GBP. Birmingham Airport provides both domestic flights within the UK, and international flights to destinations in Europe, the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East, North America and the Caribbean for approximately 12 000 000 passengers per year. With prospects for continued growth, the Airport Company is committed to providing quality facilities and services to meet the future air transport needs of the West Midlands region. The on-going sustainable development of the Airport, which aims to balance the economic and social benefits to the region with the need to control and mitigate environmental impacts, is crucial for maintaining and improving the region’s principal international gateway. The Airport has an ambitious programme of capex works to meet demand driven by growth and to maintain the integrity of its asset base. The Airport also has an on-going requirement to deliver 'business as usual' activities to support its operation. In both cases the Airport will be seeking support from external providers of construction related professional services in meeting these obligations. It is expected that providers will have the capability to deliver the full range of disciplines as detailed below and it is permissible for organisations to use supply chain arrangements, form consortia, joint ventures or other forms of partnership so as to cover the range of disciplines required. The range of disciplines to be procured under this framework are as follows: — project management, — cost management, — mechanical and electrical consultancy, — sustainability consultancy, — programme management, — health and safety/CDM, — environmental services, — risk management, — site supervision – clerk of works, etc., — BIM, — structural investigation, — site investigation, — topographical and land surveying, — geotechnical (surveying and reporting), — ground investigation, — asbestos consultancy. The Airport will procure the framework via the NEC4 framework contract and individual appointments will be made either on a NEC4 professional services short contract, NEC4 professional services contract, NEC4 term service short contract or NEC4 term service contract. This framework will be utilised for commissions where fees for services are expected to exceed 100 000 GBP.
