Description

Universitetet i Agder [the University of Agder] will procure a collaborative robot (cobot). The cobot will be used in connection with research projects and teaching/training where the focus is on care of people. This means that both patients, nursing staff and technicians come into contact with the cobot. It will operate in regular surroundings such as kitchens, bathrooms, lounge rooms and bedrooms. The work assignments for the cobot will solely be assignments that a normal person can do and the assignments will also help people who need nursing and care. The specialist environment at the faculty of technology and science and the faculty of health and nutrition will procure a collaborate robot (cobot). The cobot will be used in connection with research projects and teaching/training where the focus is on care of people. This means that both patients, nursing staff and technicians come into contact with the cobot. It will operate in regular surroundings such as kitchens, bathrooms, lounge rooms and bedrooms. The work assignments for the cobot will solely be assignments that a normal person can do and the assignments will also help people who need nursing and care. Examples of such work assignments will be: — close and open doors, refrigerators, cupboard doors; — move things such as linen, dinnerware, food etc. — move freely in a home environment; — be recognisable and non-threatening for patients. The cobot must be anthromorphic/humanoid with approximately the same dimensions and functionality as a person and must have a performance ability reminiscent of a person when handling things and in movement. It must have an integrated system that hinders it colliding with objects and people as well as having a robust and developed integrated propulsion system. The cobot's two arms must have at least 6 six degrees of freedom distributed over the shoulder, elbow and wrist so that various care operations can be performed.. Furthermore, the cobot must be programmable in such a way that extra functionality can be programmed by the university.
