Description
NatureScot would like to bring together external hydrology experts and Peatland Action restoration expertise to work collaboratively on a desk based review of our hydrological monitoring data. NatureScot/Peatland Action would like to review the dataset and study design through three inter-related work packages. NatureScot would like to bring together external hydrological expertise and Peatland Action restoration experts to work together on a desk based review of our hydrological monitoring data. Hydrological monitoring on a subset of restoration sites (blanket bogs and raised bogs) has been ongoing since 2014 through water level loggers and rain gauges. NatureScot/Peatland Action set up 121 water loggers and 25 rain gauges across 38 sites, with most equipment installed in 2014 and 2015. A number of loggers have been removed and 35 sites are still being monitored. For numerous sites the datasets are non-continuous, for example, due to equipment failures. The dataset used for this project will include all valid data collected across all sites between 2014 and 2022. Eight years into this monitoring NatureScot/Peatland Action would like to review the dataset and study design with three inter-related work packages which are 1) Individual site summaries (38 non technical summaries) and interpretation. 2) National dataset analysis and interpretation, technical report. 3) Options appraisal report for future hydrological monitoring.
