The Airport is currently installing ‘Phase 1’ of works associated with the upgrade of Hold Baggage Screening System. Two further phases of Works are to be undertaken that will support ‘Phase 1’ in ensuring that the Airport’s baggage handling system (BHS) is commensurate with the significant increase in passenger growth. ‘Phase 2’ of the Works will include the replacement of all life expired check-in related baggage handling system (BHS) mechanical electrical, and control equipment, and associated software platform(s). ‘Phase 3’ will be the replacement of the sortation and capacity increase project. Scope of Works for Phase 2 (Lot Number 1)- will include the replacement of all life expired check-in related baggage handling system (BHS) mechanical electrical, and control equipment, and associated software platform(s). A RIBA stage 3 BHS Phase 2 check-in study will conclude the precise equipment configuration of conventional, bag drop, and self service units that are to be deployed. At this time it is envisaged that no less than 31 check-in desks will be affected, but that this quantity may increase or decrease following completion of the RIBA stage 3 scheme design. Scope of Works for Phase 3 (Lot Number 2) Early/Compressed Build Baggage store in the North terminal (BHS Phase 3). The BHS Phase 3 works will include the installation new baggage handling system (BHS) mechanical, electrical, and control equipment, and associated software platforms necessary to permit the new additional sortation capacity to operate effectively. The scope shall also include the replacement of the existing life expired flight build racetracks installed in the existing North Terminal baggage hall. A RIBA stage 3 BHS Phase 3 sortation study will conclude the precise equipment configuration to be deployed. At this time it is envisaged that the Phase 3 scope will include: 2 flat sorters, an early/compressed build bag store with the capability to store 300 bags, and 10 flight laterals, plus at least one batch build cell, following completion of the RIBA stage 3 scheme design. Either delivered in a single or multiple phases
