Peatland ACTION – Installation of a Layher scaffolding tower on an afforested peatland
Published
Description
NatureScot requires a suitably qualified and experienced contractor to install a Layher scaffolding tower on an afforested peatland site at Racks Moss, Dumfries and Galloway. Installation must use measures to minimise adverse environmental impacts and site disturbance. The contractor will also provide appropriate training and documentation to personnel from NatureScot and partners to ensure safe use of the tower. A final report will be produced detailing the installation, use, maintenance and decommissioning of the tower. The tower will enable greenhouse gas monitoring equipment to be fixed to the structure above the tree canopy. The work must be completed as soon as possible and before the end of March 2023 at the latest. The contract is for works below the regulated threshold for works but is being advertised to reach a wider potential field of candidates. Full details are set out in the Statement of Requirements document attached to this notice. Peatland ACTION supports peatland restoration across Scotland with funding provided by the Scottish Government. This requires robust monitoring to assess restoration effectiveness and inform future work. NatureScot requires a suitably qualified and experienced contractor to install a Layher scaffolding tower on an afforested peatland site at Racks Moss, Dumfries and Galloway. This will make use of an existing Layher tower that is stored unused. The tower will be installed to a height of 25 metres and will be in position for up to 10 years. It will be located on deep peat planted for forestry and measures must be used to minimise adverse environmental impacts and site disturbance. The contractor will also provide appropriate training and documentation to personnel from NatureScot and partners to ensure safe use and inspection of the tower. A final report will be produced detailing the installation, use, maintenance and decommissioning of the tower. The tower will enable greenhouse gas monitoring equipment to be fixed to the structure above the tree canopy. It is strongly advised that any bidder visits the site prior to tendering. Site visits can be facilitated upon request on 19/12/2022 and 06/01/2023. The work must be completed as soon as possible and before the end of March 2023 at the latest. The contract is for works below the regulated threshold for works but is being advertised to reach a wider potential field of candidates. Full details are set out in the Statement of Requirements document attached to this notice.
