Description
Re-tender for the Design, Supply and installation of a raised all access wildlife hide overlooking Aird Meadow Loch at RSPB Lochwinnoch Lot 1: The successful supplier will supply a service to which the following points will apply: The information below is a statement of minimum requirements and is not intended to limit creative or original thinking in the preparation of proposals. - Design, supply and installation of an approximately 5.5m (W) x 2.5m (D) x2 m (H) wildlife hide at the location indicated on Map 1. - The hide should be constructed of sustainable materials and be all access (i.e. have facilities for wheelchair and pushchair access). - The hide should have an open back and large, open windows (see Picture 1 for example) to be welcoming to a wide range of audiences, and provide shelter from inclement weather while not being an attractive, enclosed site for anti-social behaviour. - The hide should have provision to prevent silhouetting and disturbance to wildlife (e.g. slatted screening to the rear – see Picture 2 for example). - The hide will be raised (similar to the existing hide which is being replaced) to provide an improved view, but must not allow unauthorised access beneath the hide. - High water levels may reach the hide, so please give details of how the main hide structure is to be supported and how it will be safeguarded against risks posed by high water levels. - If any plastics are proposed to be used in construction, they must be recycled and recyclable. Walking surfaces must be non-slip. If recycled plastic is used, the supplier must ensure the correct fixtures and fittings are used and check these with the suppliers of the recycled plastic. - There is a general presumption against the use of concrete. If this is required, this must be agreed in writing with the client before any contract is finalized. (Extra consents maybe required.) Quantities and locations of use should be included within the tender. - Features which add ecological value and/or demonstrate a reduction of negative impacts on the climate are required. Suggestions include a turf roof or built in nest boxes (e.g. for hirundine species). RSPB would expect a project budget between 10k (GBP) and 20k(GBP) to be sufficient to meet the requirements of this Invitation to Tender.
