GPS Tracking Hedgehogs on Benbecula, Outer Hebrides

The Uist Native Wildlife Project is seeking a highly skilled specialist in tracking wildlife (preferably hedgehogs), following best practice methodology to gain insight into the behaviour of hedgehogs on Benbecula. Lot 1: The project is seeking a highly skilled specialist in tracking wildlife (preferably hedgehogs), following best practice methodology to gain insight into the behaviour of hedgehogs on Benbecula. The successful contractor will be comfortable working independently and leading this package of work. The contractor will - please see documents for full details: Lead on the submission of a licence application for the relevant approvals to research and handle hedgehogs on Uist to the relevant authority; Develop approach to GPS track hedgehogs on Benbecula to provide sufficient insight into their behaviour. Approach must follow best practice methodology, guidelines and relevant expertise from project stakeholders; Discuss with UNWP Project Manager the equipment required and support in the purchase; Deploy tracking equipment on hedgehogs on Benbecula and track the hedgehogs for sufficient time to provide understanding of their current home range and behaviours to inform release requirements; Liaise with Project Steering Group to test tracking methodology (i.e. ability to track hedgehogs in nests/burrows/machair); Produce a report detailing methodology and findings to the above.
