The University wishes to appoint a suitable Provider/Providers to supply and install workshop and laboratory equipment. The requirement is broken-down into the following Lots: • Lot 1 – Dental simulators, operator chairs, workstations, workbenches • Lot 2 – Dental laboratory workbenches • Lot 3 – Dental operating microscopes • Lot 4 – Dental handpieces • Lot 5 – Digital workflow • Lot 6 – Dental surgery • Lot 7 – Radiography (x-ray) training units The Provider must: i. Work with the School of Dental Sciences / E&F / the design team / the Building Contractor to provide design input and to specify final requirements, and develop and agree the installation programme. ii. Provide a general arrangement drawing and all necessary information, including service plan and setting out details, in order for E&F / the Building Contractor to complete their Works. E&F / the Building Contractor will terminate and isolate all services within 1 metre of the final required connection, using an appropriate outlet, socket or valve. iii. Supply and install the equipment for the Lot(s) awarded, including connecting to the services provided. iv. User training. v. Before or on the day of handover submit one bound copy and one electronic copy of a complete operations and maintenance manual which should include the following: • Complete set of manufacturers operating and maintenance manuals. • Cleaning instructions including COSHH information. • Warranty certificates for all equipment assigned to the University from date of Contract completion. • Test and commissioning certificates. Lot 1: Dental simulators, operator chairs, workstations, workbenches Specialist dental simulators, operating chairs and laboratory workbenches to equip three teaching spaces. Given the specialist nature of this equipment, the Provider must be prepared to work collaboratively with the appointed design team to ensure that all service considerations are met and the configurations meet the requirements of the client. Lot 2: Dental laboratory workbenches Specialist dental technician workbenches with local dust extraction and operator chairs to equip a preparation laboratory. Given the specialist nature of this equipment, the Provider must be prepared to work collaboratively with the appointed design team to ensure that all service considerations are met and the configurations meet the requirements of the client. Lot 3: Dental operating microscopes Specialist medical grade operating microscopes to equip a specialist dental training facility. Given the specialist nature of this equipment, the Provider must be prepared to work collaboratively with the appointed design team and successful Provider of Lot 1 of this tender to ensure that all service considerations are met and the configurations meet the requirements of the client. Lot 4: Dental handpieces Specialist dental handpieces to equip a specialist dental training facility. We work in partnership with Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and we are seeking bids for this lot from Providers who provide dental handpieces to Newcastle Dental Hospital e.g. NSK, W&H and KaVo. Lot 5: Digital Workflow Comprising of intraoral scanners, a laboratory scanner and dental 3D printing facilities. It is essential that the Provider has a validated end to end workflow and understands the need to be compliant with the cyber security requirements. Lot 6: Dental Surgery Including dental chair, operating light, sinks and cabinetry. The manufacturer of the chair must currently have dental chairs in operation within Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NuTH) e.g. ADEC/KaVo and Belmont. The specification must meet the minimum requirements for NuTH as outlined in the equipment configuration. This surgery will not be linked to the centralised vacuum system within the dental hospital and dental chair must be able to ‘standalone’ from centralised services. The tender must specify the compressor requirements to operate the dental chair, as part of the surveys carried out for the overall build, the compressed air may be supplied centrally. Please indicate the costs in the tender as if the compressor is required as part of this Lot (noting that it may not be purchased). Given the specialist nature of this equipment, the Provider must be prepared to work collaboratively with the appointed design to ensure that all service considerations are met and the configurations supplied meet the requirements of the client. Lot 7: Radiography (x-ray) training units Require 7 self-contained, fully shielded, digital intra-oral radiography units supplied with connections to Frasaco phantom heads. These will be installed in two locations (see overall plan). The units must be supplied with the associated cabinetry. Where there are IT, power and data requirements these must be clearly described in the submission. The Provider must be prepared to work with the appointed design team and Radiation Protection Adviser to ensure safe installation into required locations and operation of radiography equipment.
