Value

5,000,000 EUR

Description

The goal of the project is to create a state-of-the-art, cost effective and future proofed observations solution that will replace Met Éireann’s existing systems and enhance Met Éireann's ability to provide accurate and timely weather, hydrological and climate services to the public and other stakeholders both internal and external (the “Solution”). The Solution will be built using cloud-based technologies with the intention of allowing data to be streamed in near-real-time from source to consumer and to allow the utilization of modern Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence techniques to generate high quality climatological data to fuel knowledge discovery and innovation. The Solution also will facilitate the integration of new and emerging sources of observations, including, but not limited to, internet-of-things, multi-hazard impact data, and citizen science, into Met Éireann's operational and research workflows. The project will also foster the development of new skills and competencies among Met Éireann staff, enabling them to leverage the full potential of the Solution and contribute to the advancement of meteorology, hydrology, and climate science in Ireland and beyond.
