Long Covid Service - Post Viral Fatigue

Published

Description

Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS FT ( BCHC) is seeking to establish interested suppliers that have the capacity and capability to mobilise and manage ( inc practical advice and support ) post-viral fatigue after COVID-19. The service will need to be implemented as soon as is practically possible ( Sept / early Oct ) and cover the Birmingham and West Midlands area. It is recognised that a high proportion of patients who are suffering with Post Covid Syndrome experience high levels of fatigue and data suggests that at least 30% of patients are reporting chronic fatigue, which appears to be the most pressing service gap identified. These patients are likely to require some support to understand and manage these symptoms coupled with the physical, cognitive, psychological, social, vocational impact they present. Where other aspects of support are available this may also be a consideration. It is expected that service will be delivered through a number of weekly sessions provided by specialist MDT clinicians (OT/Dietician/Psychologist/Respiratory Physiotherapist). The expectation is to see circa 8-10 patients within a session/cohort with the potential for circa 600 patients to be part of any outsourcing service with sessions delivered physically in person or via video or a combination of both An outline of an expected/potential programme being: Weekly sessions by a MDT clinician e.g. - OT/Dietician/Psychologist/Respiratory Physiotherapist ( the service is currently being delivered using remote sessions ) Programme outline : Week 1- Understanding Fatigue Week 2- Thinking about activity Week 3- Activity grading Week 4- Fatigue and exercise (Physiotherapy led) Week 5- Diet and nutrition (Dietitian led) Week 6- Sleep Hygiene Week 7- Cognition and Mindfulness Week 8- Reflect and evaluation If this is a service you are able seriously a contender to potentially provide either in its entirety or in part please confirm to Elizabeth.Ratcliffe@nhs.net the following information by 3.9.21 - Supplier name , address and key contact details - Previous experience in this field and those organisations within which it was undertaken - Potential mobilisation period and session format - Potential throughput of patients up until 31.3.22 based on the above figures
