Description

East Lindsey District Council in conjunction with Magna Vitae (Trust for Leisure and Culture) are looking to install a high wire tourist attraction within the grounds of the outdoor swimming pool at Skegness. The structure will be open to the public throughout the year (weather permitting) and should be designed as a destination venue attracting visitors from a 100 mile+ radius. Design, supply and installation of a high wire course tourist attraction at Skegness Outdoor Swimming Pool. The contractor will also need to provide a detailed specification for the most economical foundation requirements for the structure. This is to be based on the ground survey results which have also been included in the tender documentation. — The required size and specification of the proposed high wire course installation is based within an area of 468 square metres (m2). It is highly recommend that the contractor arrange a site visit to ascertain what size structure is feasible based on the requirements set out. Height — The structure requires four (4) vertical levels with an overall height of up to 21 metres. The structure must be self-supporting and cannot use any guide ropes to add stability and strength to the structure. A further ground level should be incorporated for the under 5 year old age category. This is to be located directly under the main structure but there should be a separate access point to this area. Construction — A hot dipped galvanised steel frame system is required with additional treatment measures taken to protect the structure from the aggressive seaside environment. The wires should be thick, galvanised or stainless steel to again protect from corrosion. — All wood used should be impregnated so as to ensure protection against insects, fungi and mould. — All other structure fixtures and fittings should be suitably protected against the elements. — A relevant harness and overhead clip system which ensures that the user is always attached to the structure during use needs to be in place and meet all relevant and current safety standards and regulations.
