JET Decommissioning and Repurposing Integrated Tier 1 Project Delivery Resource

Published

Description

The JDR Programme team have elected to utilise the IPD/CM (agent) delivery method as the over-arching organisation for managing the contracts. It is anticipated that the JDR programme will run for 15-20 years in total, the associated Tier 1 support requirements will be required for the majority of this period (subject to funding approval and Tranche alignment). Support requirements will expand as the programme develops into decommissioning execution phases; however, the initial expectation would be one SME (Skill set requirements) per defined role. As the programme and work scope increased the requirement for multiple SME’s will increase. SME would be expected to attend on site at the Culham Campus and will be integrated with the UKAEA team. Lot 1: JET decommissioning and repurposing is considered as ‘lead and learn’, UKAEA will both deploy existing industrial solutions and develop new tools or techniques to demonstrate safe fusion decommissioning. The goal is to make the process highly innovative and a proving ground for newest technologies. All of this shall yield numerous benefits to the UKAEA, decommissioning industry, fusion research partners, and the UK public in general.
