Predator proof fencing, Lower Lough Erne, N. Ireland

Published

Description

The RSPB in Northern Ireland have secured funding to deliver actions to help save the curlew and other breeding waders. The EU’s LIFE programme with generous support from the Northern Ireland Environment Agency will focus on the installation of predator proof fencing on two island sites on Lower Lough Erne. The project will also be part funded by the Heritage Fund, managed through the Lough Erne Landscape Partnership. The initiative will improve our most valuable sites and will define and catalyse the future action needed to maintain viable populations of curlew within these landscapes and to halt the decline of this species at a national level.
