Description

The Coal Authority invites you to tender for the provision of monitoring landslide and associated mining spoil waste tips and surrounding properties at Blaencwm, Wales. The contract is being established to facilitate issues arising from past mining activities and natural ground movements delivering a high standard of works in terms of delivery, health, safety and environmental whilst providing best value. The successful tenderer is required to attend site within a maximum of 2 hours notice of a public safety related event. Please note it is a mandatory requirement that tenderers shall be experienced in landslide and ground movement inspection assessment and associated instrumentation monitoring analysis. The contract will be for the period 1.4.2019 to 31.3.2023 and the anticipated spend over the 4-year period is estimated to be up to 300 000 GBP dependant on works identified on site. Blaencwm Landslide developed in 1989, affecting land managed by The Coal Authority and Forestry Commission Wales (now Natural Resources Wales). Both organisations have jointly funded the subsequent management of site. This has included ad-hoc drainage works, regular inspections, monitoring of a network of movement markers, surveillance of a remote monitoring system and a programme of terrestrial laser scanning.
