Description

The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) confirms its intention to procure a big-thinking, strategic single partner to help define and deliver our public relations, public affairs and stakeholder relationship strategy. The strategy will transform the way we communicate with our external audiences, building both awareness and advocacy and driving the right outcomes for all audiences. Our audiences include (but are not necessarily limited to) consumers, authorised financial services firms, consumer organisations, the media, trade bodies, regulators, MPs and government bodies, as well as FSCS’s international counterparts. It is proposed that procurement will be published in early 2021 with a new contract commencement date from July 2021. We are considering holding a pre-market engagement event prior to issuing the OJEU notice. If you would be interested in attending, please email Procurement@fscs.org.uk FSCS’s mission is to provide a trusted compensation service for customers which raises public confidence in the financial services industry. We are an impartial, Independent and free service that Government set up. We pay compensation to customers of authorised UK financial firms if the firm they’re dealing with fails and owes them money. FSCS only does this when claims can’t be paid by the firm or anyone else. We have an important remit and are unique in the services we offer. Our role For consumers — FSCS provides protection when authorised firms fail — reassuring people in a crisis and enabling them to choose regulated financial products with confidence. For customers — FSCS helps put people back on track by offering an online claims service that is free and easy for our customers to use, offering support when our customers need it. For industry — FSCS operates as efficiently as possible and contributes to the prevention of future failures. FSCS recovers as much as possible from failed firms to offset the costs of compensation, which is funded by the industry. For regulators — FSCS is ready to respond to major firm failures and crises and works with the regulatory family to support the orderly resolution of failing firms. FSCS collaborates with the regulators and industry to reduce the risk and impact of future failures. FSCS is financed by compulsory levies on firms that the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) authorise. We’re accountable to the FCA, the PRA and HM Treasury. We are not funded by taxpayers and we don’t charge customers for using our service. Awareness of, and trust in, FSCS protection instills confidence in a crisis and reduces panic. Among those aware of FSCS, 92 % felt that providers should mention FSCS protection at point of sale. 81 % claimed to feel more confident in their financial decision-making in the knowledge that FSCS exists. Awareness of savings and deposits is high due to banks, building societies and credit unions being mandated to display FSCS protection prominently. Awareness of other products we protect is low and complicated. Scams and fraud are particularly rife, bringing some of the greatest harm to consumers and cost industry. This is an area we are committed to changing and focusing our activities on.
