Published
Description
Please email: Liam@northwalesriverstrust.org for more information. Erect ~ 765m of new fencing Removal of any preexisting fencing. Supply and install 4 x swing gates and 2x bridleway gates. Plant a total of 637 trees. Clearing and thinning at 2x locations as indicated on the map. - Stock fencing ~ 765 m. Fence to be constructed using FSC certified, UC4 treated timber and high tensile wire. Strainer posts (~ 19) to be 7-8” diameter and at start, end and major changes in direction, supported by braced struts. Turning posts 5-6” (~ 13) used at minor changes in direction or height. Intermediate posts 3-4” diameter and no more than 11’ apart. 80 cm sheep netting with two strands of barbed wire, one above and one below the netting. Strainer posts and struts to be no closer than 4 m from the top of a steep bank, or if gentle sloped bank no closer than 4 m to the water’s edge. The exact positioning of the fence will be agreed between the contractor, landowner, and NWRT before installation. The finished fence height should be approximately 1.1m (44”). Use of a track machine is obligatory due to wet ground conditions likely to be encountered. Removal of any pre-existing fencing. - Supply and hang 4 x 12’ galvanised steel access gates at the locations indicated on the plans including self-closing springs with appropriate tie-back stakes/latches. Access gates should always be hung on gate posts which are railed to a strainer, never hung on the same post that wire is tensioned to. - Supply and hang 2x wooden bridal gate with a two way opening at the locations indicated on the plans. Latches should be visible and easily operable from both sides of the gate and have an extended handle. Shutting the gate should automatically fasten the latch. Gateposts should not be used as straining posts for a fence. A minimum width of bridle gates between posts should be 1525mm. The gate should swing freely and not need a greater force than 50N to open. The gate should be at least 30mm from the adjoining post they swing past (except for any latch area) to reduce shearing action on fingers. Where physically possible, gates should be installed ideally 2000mm from any adjoining hedge or fence or at a minimum of 1000mm. Posts must be compliant with manufacturer’s instructions and the hanging post must be a minimum 1100mm in the ground. Only counterweights supplied by the gate manufacturer can be used. Tree Planting. A total of 637 trees to be planted using the notch planting method. Plastic guards and wooden/bamboo canes to be used for all saplings and planted a minimum of 2m apart. As many trees as possible should be sourced of a local origin (303) https://naturalresources.wales/media/3119/choosing-provenance-in-broadleaved-trees.pdf.
