Description
Tender for Beam Assisted Powder Deposition System required by the Department of Mechanical Engineering.<br /><br />The University of Sheffield has the need to procure a powder bed-based rapid manufacturing system with the demonstrated capability of manufacturing parts and geometries in metal, and the following characteristics: <br /> <br />(i) the system must build parts from powdered metals by adding material in cross-sectional layers; <br />(ii) be capable of producing parts that can have both fully dense and lattice / porous regions; <br />(iii) be capable of building in reactive materials, such as titanium, without increase of the oxygen content. <br />(iv) enabe repeated recycling of unused powders with maintained material properties. <br />(v) have the demonstrated capability of manufacturing individual parts no smaller than 200 mm wide by 200 mm deep by 180 mm tall. <br />(vi) be capable of building parts with maintained dimensional integrity, without the need for subsequent heat treatment<br /><br />Further details are available in the tender documents.<br /><br />Closing date for return of tenders: Tuesday 29th August 2006 at 12 noon.<br /><br />PLEASE NOTE: There is an administration charge of £100 for the issue of Tender documents. There is no charge for Expressions of Interest in order to view the tender specification, but suppliers who submit tender offers will be invoiced after the tender closing date.
