Tender for a playful children’s universe in “Stærekassen”, Copenhagen Denmark

Published

Description

The Contracting Entity wishes to award a contract for the design of a playful children’s universe at Stærekassen (The Starling Nest Box), also referred to as the “New Stage” at the Royal Danish Theatre. The playful children’s universe is targeted at children ages 4-12 and spans more than 3,500 m2. The Supplier who is awarded the contract is to design the content of the playful children’s universe. Lot 1: The playful children’s universe at Stærekassen is to be the beacon in the Royal Danish Theatre’s children strategy. The vision is to create a universe that offers involving activities pivoting around the performing arts and classical music. The Contracting Entity wants a business partner who can design a performing arts exploratorium where visitors through play and experiences can feel the magic of the theatre and learn about the many crafts in and behind the art, from costumes, set design, sound and light, to instruments, song, dance and storytelling. The content is to be designed in close collaboration with the Contracting Entity. On the basis of the final design, contracts will be put up for separate tenders regarding the separate works for the physical content, such as inventory, audiovisual equipment and digital content. The contract involved in this tender is therefore not for a turnkey project. The ambition for the playful children’s universe is to create new life in the unique theatre building, Stærekassen, which is listed for preservation. The content must be designed accordingly, and changes can therefore not be made to the existing layout and fitting out of the building. All layout and fitting must therefore take due consideration to the building’s status as listed for preservation. With its unique art deco architecture, Stærekassen itself is to form magical and dramatic frame and background for the playful children´s universe. The playful children’s universe is to be targeted at children at the age from 4 to 12, but must be relevant to all children and grownups. It must therefore have a broad appeal and show that there is no contradiction between art and entertainment. This contract is for the following deliveries from the supplier: 1) Design of content of the new Royal Theatre Children Universe at Stærekassen 2) Requirements specifications for subsequent works, that allow the design to be translated into physical content 3) Option for project management of the contracts for subsequent works
