Banedanmark ultralydsmåler årligt ca. 2/3 af skinnerne på Banedanmarks infrastruktur og strækninger tilhørende Sund & Bælt med et ultralydsmåletog med det formål at finde lokationer, hvor der er indikationer på revner og andre indre fejl i skinnerne – såkaldte ”suspects”. Grundet ultralydsmåletogets relativt høje hastighed, i forhold til må-leteknologien, anses resultaterne ikke som værende nøjagtige, men kun en indikation af at der er en fejl. Alle disse lokationer med suspects skal herefter verificeres manuelt af ultralydshold ved manuel ultralydsmåling, som foregår ved en meget lavere hastighed. Ud over manuel verificering af ultralydsmåletogets suspects, skal ultralyds-holdet udføre manuelle genmålinger af tidligere registrerede fejl. Mængden af suspects som skal verificeres manuelt af ultralydshold kendes først, når ultralydsmåletogskampagnen er færdig ultimo marts
