Orkney Islands Council (“the Authority”) has a requirement for the provision of haulage services, for aggregate and rock salt from Cursiter Quarry to the majority of the Islands within the Orkney Island Group, listed as 8 separate lots. Each contract will be for 3 years with the option of 2 x 1 year extensions Lot 1: Provision of Haulage Services to the Island of Shapinsay Orkney Islands Council (“the Authority”) has a requirement for the provision of haulage services, for aggregate and rock salt from Cursiter Quarry to the Island of Shapinsay. Predominantly during the “Summer” months, noted as April – September, when notified of a requirement, Contractors will be expected to be able to commence collecting and delivering the Aggregate within a minimum notice period of 7 (seven) days, at a minimum carriage rate of 2 full vehicle load per week. There is the possibility that outwith the noted months, Contractors may be required to provide haulage of aggregate, within the timescales required. Predominantly during the “Winter” months, noted as October – March, when notified of a requirement, Contractors will be expected to be able to commence collecting and delivering the Rock Salt within a minimum notice period of 7 (seven) days, at a minimum carriage rate of 2 full vehicle load per week. There is the possibility that outwith the noted months, Contractors may be required to provide haulage of rock salt, within the timescales required. Orkney Islands Council provides no guarantee of the quantity, if any, of material to be transported on an annual basis. Lot 2: Provision of Haulage Services to the Island of Rousay Orkney Islands Council (“the Authority”) has a requirement for the provision of haulage services, for aggregate and rock salt from Cursiter Quarry to the Island of Rousay. Predominantly during the “Summer” months, noted as April – September, when notified of a requirement, Contractors will be expected to be able to commence collecting and delivering the Aggregate within a minimum notice period of 7 (seven) days, at a minimum carriage rate of of 2 full vehicle load per week. There is the possibility that outwith the noted months, Contractors may be required to provide haulage of aggregate, within the timescales required. Predominantly during the “Winter” months, noted as October – March, when notified of a requirement, Contractors will be expected to be able to commence collecting and delivering the Rock Salt within a minimum notice period of 7 (seven) days, at a minimum carriage rate of 2 full vehicle load per week.
