Description
FREVAR KF would like to receive offers for a fully automated fire suppression system with the aim of increasing the level of preventative fire safety measures in the waste container at our incineration plant. Lot 1: Our incineration plant mainly treats household waste collected from residents in Fredrikstad municipality, but also sorted waste from other stakeholders. The risk of fire in connection with the storage and treatment of waste is a major focus internally in the company and among our local fire brigade and insurance company, and experience shows that the likelihood of fires/fire incidents in waste treatment plants and waste reception facilities has increased significantly, partly due to the increasing cases of Lithium batteries being mixed in with household waste. As a preventative measure, it has therefore been decided to install a heat-seeking monitoring system connected to automatic and directional foam and/or water cannons that can start extinguishing directly in the zone or in the specific area where the heat source/fire originated. A manual remote-controlled water cannon is currently installed in the roof of the waste bin, which we would like to keep. It is assumed that the existing pressure booster pump will cover the water supply needs of the new plant. We envision a heat-seeking system that covers the entire surface of the waste bin and continuously monitors the temperature of the waste, and we assume that the system consists of 2 independent heat-seeking cameras located at each end of the waste bin, each connected to its own directional fire extinguishing cannon, which can automatically extinguish heat developing in the waste using a direct foam/water jet aimed directly at the location of the heat. It is assumed that the monitoring system can be set to give a preemptive warning in the form of an acoustic and/or visual alarm/warning at a specified lower temperature limit, and start the extinguishing process automatically if the temperature exceeds a specified upper temperature limit. It must also be possible for the plant to activate the cannons manually and to remote control the direction of the foam/water cannons both from the control room of the incinerator and via a portable wireless remote control unit. It must also be possible to choose whether to extinguish using water or foam from the fire extinguishing cannons. It is also a requirement that the foam/water cannons must be set up with both a shower and a jet function that makes it possible to shower a larger area, or alternatively direct a strong jet at a specific point to make the water penetrate deeper into the waste. It will be a requirement that the live images from the IR cameras be transmitted to a screen in the control room of the incinerator for visual monitoring by the operators on shift.
