Description

We are looking for such stakeholders and organisations to work with us to co-design and co-deliver a programme of work across Stirling, to support the Thriving Communities vision, which we hope to develop further, with the input of our communities. We are looking for organisations with demonstrable expertise and expertise in: - Community engagement - Facilitating change - Place-based working - Enabling and embedding lived experience in the design of services - Co-designing services with communities - Community capacity-building - Community Asset Transfer - Realising and management community benefits from procurement and commissioning activity Stirling Council is looking to embed community wealth building principles across all Council services, as part of a changing and transformational approach to community development, and we are looking for partners and stakeholders to help us achieve this vision. Thriving Communities is the interim name given to a programme of work that looks to transform local government services, and cede power in processes that might currently frustrate or limit community empowerment, with the overall aim of unlocking the full potential of Stirling’s communities, by mobilising the community expertise and experience that exists across Stirling, for the good of all who live and work here, and those who visit. Thriving Communities aims to: - Improve understanding and ownership of community wealth building in Stirling, so that opportunities to build wealth across Stirling's communities are not overlooked. - Improve the range, visibility, and accessibility of opportunities for meaningful community engagement – making community wealth building everyone's business in Stirling Council. - Identify and embed approaches to service user involvement in service re-design. - Build community resilience, and capacity for (e.g.) community asset transfer. - Ensure decisions made by Council are informed by relevant data, and consistently promote local wealth-building. Stirling Council has developed an initial action plan, based around five emerging themes: - Raising the profile of Community Wealth Building - Promoting Local Wealth - Employability and Career Pathways - Capacity Building - Transformation of Community-Facing Services Can you help us? We believe community wealth building can harness the economic leverage of local ‘anchor’ organisations like ours, to tackle long standing systemic challenges and structural inequalities within our communities. We want to enable more local communities and people to own, have a stake in, access, and benefit from the wealth their economy generates, contributing to societal equity, and environmental sustainability across Stirling.
