Bóthar Guidel Pedestrian and Cycle Bridge

The proposed works involve the construction of a dedicated pedestrian and cycle bridge on the eastern side and downstream of the existing Bothar Guidel Road Bridge (R612) and includie the following: • Construction of a single-span pedestrian and cycle bridge (effective width of five meters) over the Owenabue River downstream of the existing Bothar Guidel Road Bridge in Carrigaline. • Alterations to existing stone masonry wall on the southern approach to the bridge to facilitate the footpath and approach spans to the proposed bridge. • New signage, ducting and LED lighting. • New six-metre-long slatted timber bench on the proposed pedestrian and cycle bridge. • Upgrading of existing footpaths at the tie-in points at Crosshaven Road and Bother Guidel Road and a tie-in to the public amenity area on Owenabue River embankment. • All associated site development and landscaping works. The deck of the bridge will comprise of a concrete slab that will be surfaced with an asphalt surface course. The handrails will be constructed of stainless steel. The support structure of the bridge will be two precast concrete girders and will be fabricated off site. The proposed bridge and associated infrastructure will be permanent.
