FMI har indgået kontrakt med Lockheed Martin Global, Incorporated (LMGI) om indkøb af Midlife Update til Forsvarets TPS-77 radarer til at understøtte og sikre den videre funktionalitet og drift af radarerne. Mere konkret består opdateringen af 1) Opdatering til ny konfiguration af Signal-/Dataprocessor (SDP), 2) Ny interrogator til sekundærradar, samt 3) opgradering/udskiftning af Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS), Environmental Control Unit (ECU), Elevation Drive System (EDS) og Rotary Joint/Slip Ring.Grundet forældelse og nedslidning af delsystemer er denne opdatering nødvendig. LMGI har tidligere meldt ud at de med udgangen af 2019 ikke kan garantere support for de danske TPS-77 radarer i deres nuværende konfiguration. Den nuværende konfiguration understøtter heller ikke nye versioner af reservedele, som løbende bliver udviklet af LMGI. Support af den nuværende sekundærradar understøttes heller ikke længere. I tillæg til dette er der behov for udskiftning af undersystemerne (UPS, ECU, EDS og Rotary Joint/Slip Ring), dels for at forbedre pålidelighed, dels fordi disse undersystemer er nedslidte og ikke længere, eller kun delvis, supporteres af LMGI.
