Extra Care Housing in Dorset - Market Engagement Event

Published

Description

We would like to invite you to join us to hear more about our plans for Extra Care Housing in Dorset. The session will be held in person on Thursday 6th June from 14:00-15:30, at The Dorset History Centre, Dorchester, Dorset, DT1 1RP. Please note there is no parking directly at the venue but can be found 0.1 miles away at Top O’ Town Car Park, DT1 1XT. In summer and autumn last year, we started a conversation about our plans for more Extra Care Housing development in Dorset. We now have a clear Extra Care Housing strategy that has been adopted through the officer governance processes at Dorset Council. It will be taken to Cabinet in July 2024 at which point the strategic direction we previewed in earlier market engagement will have been adopted at all levels of the council. From the feedback we received we are clear that drawing together our aspirations into a strategic programme and seeking a strategic partner to help us deliver this programme using land and property owned by the Council is the right approach. It is our intention to commission a strategic development partner to help fund, develop, maintain, and manage four new Extra Care Housing schemes of between 55 and 120 units, in strategic locations in Dorset. In some locations, this will also include the development of other complimentary housing including but not limited to supported living, general needs social housing, and market sale or rented housing. In consideration of the above, we would like to share with you the work we have been doing to explore options for delivery going forward and to gather your feedback. This market engagement session will cover the following: - Dorset Council’s Extra Care Housing strategy - The considerations for a strategic development partnership - Details of sites or land opportunities - The proposed methods of procurement - An opportunity for market feedback Attendees will also have the opportunity to book a follow up 1:1 discussion with Dorset Council, which will take place on the 10th and 11th June 2024. Details on how to book will be provided at the event. PLEASE NOTE: the proposed development partnership will not include the provision of care and support services – these will be separately commissioned via the Dorset Care Framework (DCF 2 Lot 5). The development partner will be expected to undertake the housing management of schemes developed as part of this programme.
