Description
The Health Research Board (HRB) is a state agency that supports research and provides evidence to prevent illness, improve health and transform patient care. The HRB has 65 staff. Our annual budget is in excess of €45m and we manage a research investment portfolio of approximately €200m. The agency is funded mainly by the Department of Health, and Board members are appointed by the Minister for Health. This is an 11 month role commencing in July 2020 with annual leave of 30 days to be pro rata over the contract. The salary of the accountant is estimated to be €60,000 plus Employers PRSI, Agency fees etc The following attributes are required for the Financial accountant Membership of a recognised professional accounting body is required for any candidates put forward. 4+ years of post-qualification auditing, accounting and finance experience that includes:- (a) Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures. (b) 4+ Years practical experience of audit in a registered Audit Practice. (c) Detailed understanding of financial management structures and accounting within the public sector. (d) Preparing Financial Reports to inform decision making, (e) Inter-acting with the finance personnel in Research Performing Organisations and Government Departments. (f) Analysing and summarising large quantities of financial data (g) Excellent accounting software user and administration skills. (h) Excellent interpersonal, presentation, report writing and communication skills. (i) Excellent Microsoft Excel skills. (j) Highly proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint. (k) Knowledge and practical application of Business World Agresso would be an advantage. The role of the Financial Accountant requires the ability to manage relationships with work colleagues both internally in the HRB and externally.
