Independent Visiting services match a volunteer with a Child in the care of the local authority, whose placement may be some distance from their family home and who may have limited contact with family members. Children regularly meet their volunteer for an activity of their choosing, either virtually or in-person. Matches generally last for a minimum of two years, though the exact time in this contract may vary. Advocacy services for Children in the care of the Council and for Care Leavers are interventions by paid professionals which seek to resolve an issue/s affecting each Child. Once matched, advocates support and/ or speak for Children over a short period of time until that issue/s is resolved. Keywords: Children's Social Services
