Description

The Home Office requires a radiation protection advisory service across all ports and airports in the UK and its Juxtaposed Ports in Europe to ensure it meets its legal requirements under the Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017 (IRR17). The requirement also includes provision of associated equipment (and its repair and calibration),a dosimetry service, training of staff on radiation issues, a 24-hour helpline and on-site attendance where requested. It may also include characterisation, transportation and disposal services for radioactive goods. The requirement is for a contract with a single supplier. HMRC will also be a participating authority under the potential contract. Lot 1: The Home Office requires a radiation protection advisory service across all ports and airports in the UK and its Juxtaposed Ports in Europe to ensure it meets its legal requirements under the Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017 (IRR17). Border Force is a law enforcement command within the Home Office. Border Force secures the border and promotes national prosperity by facilitating the legitimate movement of individuals and goods,whilst preventing those that would cause harm from entering the UK. This is achieved through the immigration and customs checks carried out by staff at ports and airports who search baggage, vehicles and cargo for illicit goods at 140 sea and airports. Border Forces' priorities are to deter and prevent individuals and goods that would harm the national interests from entering the UK and to facilitate the legitimate movement of individuals and trade to and from the UK. The requirement includes provision of associated equipment (and its repair and calibration), a dosimetry service,training of staff on radiation issues, a 24-hour helpline and on-site attendance where requested. It may also include characterisation, transportation and disposal services for radioactive goods. The requirement is for a contract with a single supplier.
