Pressure Relieving Redistribution Products & Associated Service Provision

Published

Description

The use of specialised pressure care beds and mattresses is a recognised therapeutic intervention for pressure ulcers prevention and managements. NHS Lanarkshire’s current strategy for the supply of Pressure Relieving Redistribution Products is to rent dynamic pressure relieving/distribution equipment as required from a sole supplier through a local contract. In addition to the supply of products, the sole contractor is responsible for the associated provision of services including the delivery, collection and decontamination, tracking and monitoring of all equipment. The Tissue Viability Service have undertaken improvement work from March 2019 to the present date to establish evidence based practice for the right surface, right patient at the right time for the prevention and management of pressure ulcers in NHS Lanarkshire which has resulted in a noticeable decrease in utilisation of alternating systems. Ahead of a new tender process which is due to begin September 2021 NHS Lanarkshire is seeking to identify innovations and new products available in the market that will continue to support the Tissue Viability Service in the prevention and management of pressure ulcers.
