SCC 2024 020 - Eastern Garvoge Bridge and Approach Roads - Garvoge Bridge Wind Tunnel Testing

Description

The Services shall include: 1. Undertaking a wind climate study for the proposed site of the Eastern Garvoge Bridge, a single span tied arch bridge over the Garvoge River in Sligo. 2. Building an aeroelastic model of the bridge and testing it in a Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel for both laminar and turbulent flow conditions. 3. Undertaking a desk study to assess the susceptibility of the hanger cables to wind induced vibration. The Services may also optionally include: 1. Undertaking mitigation studies on the aeronautical model should the original design of the arch or deck give undesirable responses in the wind tunnel. 2. Building a sectional model of the deck and testing it in an aeronautical wind tunnel under both laminar and turbulent flow conditions.
