The National Archives - Window replacements, insulation upgrades and associated remedial works
Published
Description
The National Archives is planning to undertake a programme of window replacements, insulation upgrades and remedial works to the building fabric of its 'Q1' building. This building was constructed in 1977 as a brutalist concrete archive building in Kew, TW9 4DU. The window replacement and associated works are required to resolve performance issues which have been identified with the existing windows and building fabric. The works being tendered are remedial works to the external building fabric, insulation upgrades to the wall cavities above and below the windows, and replacement windows into the existing window apertures. Bidders are to note that it is imperative to maintain a consistent, controlled internal environment to protect The National Archives' collections whilst the works are being undertaken. The works include working at height in and around a public building. The building is open to the public 9am-5pm Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, 9am-7pm Tuesday and Thursday, and 11am - 4pm for the first Sunday of each month. The building must remain operational throughout the works including Monday when staff will be on site. The works area will need to be carefully hoarded to protect the collection and adjacent areas from dust, noise and external elements. The form of contract will be a JCT intermediate with design responsibility based on the performance specification. Tender packs are available upon request to procurement@nationalarchives.gov.uk, upon receipt of a completed NDA (attached to this notice). We anticipate issuing these tender packs at the end of October. Tender submissions will be due by midday on December 29th 2023, with a contract award decision anticipated by the end of January 2024 and a contract commencement date of April 1st 2024.
