Dublin City Council’s Climate Action Plan – Climate Neutral Dublin 2030 - requires Dublin City Council to implement the Edible Dublin: Food Strategy of which Eat the Streets is a key mechanism for engaging, and empowering communities and small businesses to take climate action through the food system. Further Dublin city’s participation in the EU project CULTIVATE and as a signatory of the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact commits us to engaging people in a conversation on the sustainable production and consumption of food in our city, and food sharing initiatives. To address these actions Dublin City Council is committed to engaging citizens on the topic of food and climate change through Eat the Streets. In this context we are establishing a four year single party framework to support the implementation and development of Eat the Streets. The initial contract will be for four years to deliver Eat the Streets Festival in 2025, 2026, 2027 and 2028 and to develop and implement Eat the Streets programme which is envisioned to be comprised small community activations that occur once a quarter. About Eat the Streets: Eat the Streets! explores Dublin’s rich food history by asking people, young and old to join us on a journey to Grow! Cook! Create! And Discover! In June 2021, September 2022, September 2023 and September 2024 growers, farmers, experts and foodies came together and shared their knowledge in After Dinner Chats and After Lunch Chats exploring our past, present and future relationship with food, cook alongs and workshops. Going forward over the next five years we are seeking to expand and evolve Eat the Streets as both an annual festival and year long programme of events and activities to deliver on actions within Edible Dublin. In this context we are seeking an event management company to work with DCC’s Climate Action and Economic Development Team, in developing the programme of events that are aligned with national, regional and local policies, programmes and initiatives, such as Dublin City’s Climate Action Plan 2024-2029: Climate Neutral Dublin 2030, Local Economic and Community Plan 2024-2029, and Tourism Strategy, while furthering the dialogue on food policy as it pertains to climate action and the city. Eat the Streets Festival: The successful tenderer will be required to deliver all aspects of Eat the Streets Festival such as but not limited to the following: • Devise an overall creative direction for the event • Programming and sourcing of event content. Activities to include but not limited to: o Cook Alongs o After Lunch/Dinner Chats o Growing workshops o Preserving/Pickling workshops o Nutrition workshops o Food history tours o Family oriented activities o Temporary outdoor furniture o (NOTE: Dublin City Council has established a list of parties to be involved with these activities that will be provided to the successful tenderer) Eat the Streets Programme: The successful tender must work with teams within DCC and external stakeholders who will form a steering group to develop a programme of small community activationsthat supports the delivery of Edible Dublin and that occur once a quarter.
