Description
The National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) has launched a search for a base build contractor to support the delivery of the works packages for the new Royal Marines Experience Museum (RMEM) offer to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard (PHD). The reimagination of Boathouse No.6 - a Grade II* listed building constructed in 1845 and one of the earliest examples of a building with load-bearing iron -frames - will bring ground-breaking new visitor experiences to the site. The vision of the whole project is to re-imagine the magnificent 1840s-built, Grade II* listed Boathouse 6, as a centre for activities for all ages, where heritage is valued, accessible and relevant. It will become home to the Royal Marines Experience Museum, a special exhibition gallery, a family-focused marines-themed laser quest, and a dual-use public programme and conference facility. The base build contractor will be procured during the RIBA Stage 3 coordinated design stage using a two-stage tender process. The procurement will be via a Restricted Tender process and will include Contractor Design Portions. A two-stage tender process allows the contractor to be involved in the project during the detailed design stage (RIBA Stage 4). This appointment is being undertaken under a Restricted Tender Procedure therefore, there is a two-stage process for this tender. There is an initial pre-qualifying phase whereby the NMRN wishes to evaluate potential bidders for suitability for this tender. This will be done by understanding a suppliers technical and professional ability and being suitably qualified for these works. This is pursuant to the PCR2015 Regulation Section 26 (7). As part of the tender process, the NMRN is offering interested parties the chance to participate in a Market Engagement Day on Thursday 12th December 2024 (1000-1200) hosted in Boathouse No.6. For details on this and how to book onto the day please see the tender documentation. All communication is to be done via tenders@nmrn.org.uk unless stated otherwise. Please note this tender has been updated on 29th November 2024 so please follow this version.
