Proposed Peatland Restoration – Loch Awe and Ledbeg, Assynt, Highlands (combination of artificial drains and erosion) Lot 1: Proposed Peatland Restoration – Loch Awe and Ledbeg, Assynt, Highlands. The work involves a combination of blocking and ‘zipping’ of drainage grips – approximately 43km length, as well as areas of peatland erosion requiring gully blocking and reprofiling of exposed hags (approximately 800 peat bunds and 10km of hags / peat cuttings). There is also an area of approximately 7.4 hectares intense gullying and bare peat that requires sensitive restoration. In total the site footprint (30m buffer) is approximately 213 hectares.
