Description

Lung blocks are used at OUS during full body radiation. A new method is need to verify the placement of the lung block as regards the patient. The lung blocks are placed between the linear accelerator and the patient, the SSD to the patient's surface is 380 - 420. Verification must be done with a digital picture plate. It must be possible to place the plate behind the patient and generate an x-ray picture of the patient's lungs that shows both the patient's lungs and the lung blocks' placement in relation to the lungs. The picture is to be generated with radiation from the linear accelerator, which has an energy of 6MV. The picture must be available on a digital screen in the linear accelerator's operations room straight after the x-ray has been taken.
