Description
Norwegian Customs is responsible for carrying out border checks on means of transport and loads that pass the Norwegian border by plane, boat, and vehicles on roads. The Norwegian Customs has considerable challenges in controlling the smuggling of drugs and other goods that are hidden in cavities in vehicles, aircraft, boats, and in other objects, (e.g., tins). An efficient check of all such cavities by manual inspection methods is very time consuming and resource demanding. This type of technology is expected to be a useful supplement to the existing control equipment, and the Norwegian Customs would like to procure such hand-held x-ray equipment based on the use of backscatter technology for used in such control assignments.
