Lancashire Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust intends to procure a surgical robot (da Vinci) and award a 5 year contract to Intuitive Surgical for the purchase of the equipment, associated consumables and maintenance. At this point in time, the DaVinci system is the only surgical robot available commercially with formal clinical appraisal with a full range of wristed instrumentation instruments required for a Radical Prostatectomy, all of which articulate 540 degrees and are vital to ensure elements of the procedure are performed safely.
