Occasional travel to Blackpool & Sheffield. Working arrangements Working arrangements will be a blend of remote working and working from the Manchester or Blackpool HUB site, you will spend roughly 40% of your time onsite and 60% at home. Confirm if you require a contracted out service or supply of resource Supply of resource: the off-payroll rules may apply Summary of work You will be working in a product based multi-disciplinary setup as part of combined leadership team of DWP Mobile and DWP Accessibility Technology Services. You will review existing delivery practices, processes, tools and organisation for these products, make recommendations and help with transformation while working in collaboration with team and leadership. You will bring to team your technical expertise, practical experience and knowledge to produce insights that focuses on improving the throughput, streamline processes and boost team morale. Where the supplied staff will work North West England Why the work is being done The DWP Mobile services product is responsible for providing mobile devices and services to over 20,000 colleagues in DWP. Team is responsible for the management, security, infrastructure and applications for this product along with the service management for all aspects of the service. Accessibility Technology Services product is responsible for providing assistive software and hardware to colleagues who require these specialised solutions to perform at their full potential due to their accessibility conditions. Team is responsible for the management, delivery of these solutions along with service management for all aspects of the service. These two teams have been brought together under same leadership while still the two product teams operate as independent product teams and have distinct delivery processes, practices and organisation while having same leadership. Both the teams have backlog of work that stretches their capacity on regular basis. Opportunity exists for reviewing and transforming the current operating model for these teams to improve consistency in delivery approach, practices and processes and utilise collective capacity more efficiently while boosting team morale. The business problem you need to solve We are looking for a talented and experienced Lead Delivery Manager, with previous experience and success in the following areas - 1. Assessing current delivery frameworks, processes, practices, toolset and organisation used by the product delivery teams. Understand the DWP context, governance, processes, delivery environment and strategic direction. 2. Identify opportunities for improvement in all the above areas and overall structure and approach. 3. Evaluate potential options, identify pros/cons and make recommendations building picture of the final state. Understand the changes required, potential impact and present clearly and concisely to Product Manager. 4. Produce a transformation plan for future state, identifying the required changes, their impact and feasibility and plan to reach that future state. Agree that with Product Owner and sponsor. 5. Execute the change in conjunction with the leadership team. Establish the new organisation, practices, processes and evaluate the impact. Adjust as required. 6. Implementing Change and improvement activities, Supporting and upskilling current team members The following are desirable but not essential : - Experience of implementing Six Sigma change activities within and IT environment First user type: - DWP Mobile team - DWP Mobile leadership team - DWP Accessibility Technology Services (ATS) team - DWP ATS leadership team
