PQ0516 - Co-production of Creating a Mentally Healthy City Strategy: Public Engagement

The Council is seeking for an organisation to support the coproduction of the Creating a Mentally Healthy City Strategy. The purpose of the strategy will be to lay out the strategic approach required to build a mentally healthy city where people are empowered and enabled to remain well. It will be a document that will be aligned with Health and Wellbeing Board's Priorities and guide the development of a Creating a Mentally Healthy City Strategic Action Plan (The Framework for Action) which will be a living document. This contract will be for a period of up to 4 months commencing July/ August 2024 until 31/10/2024. Requirements - Conduct a series of community co-production workshops aimed at gathering information from the communities on understanding their perceptions of mental wellbeing and balance, how their community and environment helps or hinders their mental wellbeing, and community coping mechanisms. We ultimately want to map out how the City of Birmingham can support our population to have good mental wellbeing taking in to account people's different circumstances, environments and social networks. The provider will need conduct 7 to 10 community workshops using the scoping criterions below. Communities Scope Criteria's: o Areas of high deprivation o Communities with high prevalence's of depression & anxiety o Inclusion health Groups o Areas of higher mental health inequalities o Representatives of the demographics (age, ethnicity, gender) of the city Objectives: Our objective is to bring together community members, stakeholders, service providers, and strategic leaders from across the city to openly discuss their mental health perceptions, experiences, knowledge and understanding. This data will be combined with local and national data and the mental wellbeing evidence base to the shape the Mentally Health City Strategy. - To assess the community's understanding of mental wellbeing. - To gauge the importance of mental wellbeing within the targeted areas. - To understand how the community perceive the ways in which the city and its assets can help and hinder their mental wellbeing - To explore individual and community-driven strategies for coping with mental health challenges.
