Description

Summary of Requirements: The Authority has a requirement for the supply of 12.7mm Armour Piercing Incendiary (API) Ammunition that will be used by generalist and specialist users through both the Sniper Rifle 0.50 inch Sniper (Barrett) L135A1 (LRPAS) and L121A2 AW-50 Bolt Action 0.50 inch Calibre Rifle for visualisation of impact in armour defeat scenarios on operations and in training. The volumes of ammunition required are small, with emphasis being on the quality and ballistic performance of the ammunition nature where function, accuracy, armour defeat, and impact visualisation will be key. As part of this competitive tender The Authority will require evidence of the performance of tendered ammunition through a 12.7mm X 99mm calibre weapon system with a twist rate of 1:15” and a barrel length of 27 inches or greater. The specific performance criteria that the 12.7mm API ammunition is expected to meet will be issued as part of the tender documentation in the Invitation to Tender (ITT). The contract will be for a duration of seven years and is anticipated to be awarded within MOD financial year 22/23. The first two annual orders will be firm for both order quantities and pricing, with five option years that will be subject to fixed pricing. There will also be additional option buys with fixed pricing alongside the firm annual orders. The forecasted requirement is circa 4,000 – 7,000 rounds.
