Cannock Chase Council has purchased a suitable 50 acre site in Heath Hayes/Norton Canes and identified £900k of capital funding for the development of a new cemetery site. Planning permission has been secured and the Council is keen to explore the potential of working collaboratively with a partner to provide the additional capital investment necessary, circa GBP 500 000, to deliver and operate this key facility within the district. The Council in addition are interested to determine whether the use of the site could be extended to provide a crematorium or other ancillary functions of bereavement services. For the avoidance of doubt this is a not a call for competition, this is to initiate a Market Engagement/Soft Market Testing process intended to allow any interested organisations with appropriate experience to outline their views and provide information with no commitment to themselves or the Council. The aim of this exercise is to enable the Council to establish the market’s appetite for investing; developing and managing this facility, taking into consideration the Council’s core requirements. As part of the market engagement process, an event will be held to obtain feedback from interested providers to help shape its future specification. The event will be held at 10:30 am on 15.2.2018 at the Civic Centre, Beecroft Road, Cannock, Staffordshire WS11 1BG. There will also be a Soft Market Testing Questionnaire which will provide the opportunity to input into and shape the future specification. The Soft Market Testing Questionnaire and Core Service Requirements are available by contacting the buyer named above.
