The Natural History Museum of Denmark (‘the NHMD’) hereby calls for tenders for a contract for a (new) Principal Designer for the new Museum Galleries at Natural History Museum of Denmark, located in Copenhagen. The new museum galleries will include i) a gallery in an ellipsoid dome (the ‘Ocean Hall’) and ii) two underground levels of galleries (the ‘Underground Galleries’). Design of the exhibitions for the Underground Galleries was initiated in 2019 by the NHMD’s current Principal Designer, Tinker Imagineers (“Tinker”). Tinker and the NHMD has agreed that Tinker will exit the project when the Developed Design for the Underground Galleries is completed by April 2023, thus creating the need for the NHMD to have a new Principal Designer to take over. Design of the exhibitions for the Ocean Hall gallery has not yet commenced. The new Principal Designer’s primary tasks are: • Full exhibition experience design and delivery of the Ocean Hall gallery from Stage 1: Preparation and Briefing through Stage 8: Use • Project lead for design completion and delivery of the Underground Galleries from Stage 4: Procurement through Stage 8: Use The new Principal Designer’s fee for the performance of the contract is fixed at DKK 16,800,000. The NHMD has the option to include a task regarding design and execution of suspended exhibition installations for the Ocean Hall in the contract. If the NHMD makes use of this option, the Principal Designer’s fee is increased by DKK 1,925,000, resulting in a total (fixed) amount of DKK 18,725,000. The Principal Designer is expected to start delivering its services following the award and the signing of the contract in June 2023.
