QUB/2753/25 Contract for Commercialisation Modernisation
Published
Description
In the economic context of post-CV19 and Brexit challenges, with the current government’s productivity agenda, the drive to increase social and economic impact from university research is likely to become more pressing.

Qubis are striving to become more efficient, with the objective to create more spin outs and create more licence deals in a shorter time frame. Additionally, Qubis is currently undergoing changes from the recent Spinout Review which will have meaningful implications for how it works.

With all these changes ongoing, the Qubis teams requires support to modernise, professionalise, and digitise their commercialisation lifecycle. The University invites tender experienced firms to tender for commercialisation modernisation.

The commercialisation process encompasses the journey from an academic submitting an idea to either licensing or spinning out technology. Currently, the commercialisation lifecycle spans three teams: the Commercial Development Team, the Innovation Programme Team, and the Spin-Out Team.

However, existing processes face key challenges, lack automation, AI integration, and standardisation, resulting in inefficiencies and missed growth opportunities.
