Red Meat Supply Chain - Economic Evaluation

Published

Description

Background / Aims: The aim of this report is to provide our Levy Payers with a clear economic assessment of the red meat (Beef, Lamb and Pork) sectors both at an England and GB level from birth through to point of sale at retail, with both direct and indirect economic contributions accounted for. Aims: -To calculate the economic value of the full red meat supply chain at an England and GB level, sub divided by the Beef, Lamb and Pork sectors. -Subdivide the value attributed to the livestock specifically, as well as the total economic contributions from all secondary sources. -Ability to capture and quantify the employment structures and the value driven from these across the supply chain. Service Requirement: The aim of this project is to deliver a clear and well structure report, providing an overall economic value for both the total red meat category and broken down per sector (Beef, Lamb and Pork). This economic figure should recognise both direct and indirect contributions (the role of feed merchants, vets, machinery dealerships, processing, distribution etc). The successful tender will be expected to deliver a robust and credible methodology for creating and attributing these costs, recognising key historical movements over the last 10 years. We'd expect this report to be completed by the 28th February 2025. Similar workstreams would include reports such as those linked below within this notice. Structure / Format of Submission: The report should include: - Overall economic value of the red meat sector - Breakdown of key values per species (Beef, Lamb, Pork) - A split of costs based on both an England only and GB basis - Breakdown of key contributing factors - The value of the livestock themselves - Employment structures across the supply chain -> Direct employment ->Employment supported in other sectors Evaluation and Award of Contract: Please see criteria attached.
