Description

This is a prior information notice (PIN) only: publication and a call for competition will be conducted once the scope of work is fully defined and approved. DFID is scoping a new programme that will empower marginalised adolescent girls with quality education and also the relevant skills to be able to access productive work when they are of age. It will break down the barriers that stop girls from reaching their potential and equip them with the confidence and ability to take control of their own lives. The ambition is to work with national governments so that the programme can go to scale. DFID will work with the most marginalised adolescent girls, including out of school girls. DFID is aiming for 5-7 fragile and conflict affected countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. It is anticipated there will be 3 key components: (i) addressing barriers to girls’ education, including social norms; (ii) quality education — enable girls to learn effectively, with a strong focus on numeracy and literacy, including education system reform; (iii) support girls to build the relevant skills for productive and fulfilling work so they are well-equipped when they are of age. This is a prior information notice (PIN) only: publication and a call for competition will be conducted once the scope of work is fully defined and approved.
