Extraction of the felled material will have to be carried out in a manner to cause minimal damage to the Benmore ground flora. It is expected Benmore Botanic Garden staff and equipment will assist where appropriate, to forward the felled material to storage areas, in preparation for removal from site to designated mills. Where possible, the felled material will be cut to specified commercial lengths to maximise the timber value. It will be expected the supplier/s would arrange haulage from Benmore to appropriate mills or depots. RBGE will be inviting suppliers to visit Benmore Garden for a discussion around what approach they would take and what services they can provide. Area of consider for suppliers wish to work with RBGE – Benmore Garden include Safe working practices including - Have all necessary tickets and insurances in place prior to works commencing. Benmore Botanic Garden is likely to be open to visitors whilst larch removal operations are taking place. The contractor would have to demarcate and maintain safe zones of operation.
