Description

The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, on behalf of all trusts in The Black Country Pathology Service, is notifying the market of our intention to enter into a future public procurement exercise for the provision of various pathology managed service contracts. The procurement will be for replacement managed services and consumable contracts currently in place at all four trusts. As part of this notification we intend to undertake market testing to decide the scope and specification of the procurement which will be for the provision of all services relating to, but not limited to, Chemistry, Haematology, Blood Transfusion, Immunology, Microbiology, Cellular Pathology and Molecular. This procurement is not intended to be an outsourcing of the services to another provider, simply the management of equipment, technology, reagents and other consumables. In line with NHS Improvements national programme to consolidate current pathology services across England and establish networks, The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, on behalf of The Black Country Pathology Services (BCPS) is proposing to take its pathology laboratory services to the commercial market in a future EU procurement exercise. The aim of this exercise is to deliver a consolidated service which improves quality, standardisation and secures financial savings. This notification acts as a prior information notice to this future procurement requirement and also a call for expressions of interest from potential suppliers who may wish to be involved in soft market testing we will be undertaking over the coming months. As part of this market testing we wish to explore optimum contract durations, in-scope services, future developments and technology, potential contract values and appropriate procurement procedures. The Trust reserves the right to explore all routes to market during this process. Suppliers that are interested in working with us on this market testing are invited to register their interest by sending a message via the ProContract portal. There will also be an open day presentation that registered suppliers will be invited to attend on 19.12.2018 where representatives from the BCPS Procurement team will present details of the future tender and provide further information. Details of the open day will be issued shortly via this portal.
