Description

Fitzwilliam Quay is located in Ringsend, Dublin 4 and extends between Ringsend Bridge and London Bridge. The quay wall bounds the River Dodder and forms the flood defence for the adjacent road and properties. Flood water ingress to the roadside on Fitzwilliam Quay occurred during recent extreme tidal events. Investigations including two condition surveys on the quay wall were carried out to assess the pathway for these flood waters. These surveys noted a number of sealing and local structural defects which are likely to affect the water tightness of the Quay Wall. This Request for Tenders (RFT) is being prepared to remediate existing defects in the sheet piles and capping beam along Fitzwilliam Quay. The bulk of the defects are noted to be in an older section of Frodingham Sheet Piles along Chainage 0-180 m. A significant defect in this section is a number of gaps are noted between the top of the sheet piles and the underside of the capping beam. A grouting solution is specified to remediate this defect. Other defects generally consist of local holes/voids in the sheets, locally heavily corroded sections, a large unsealed opening in the sheets at river bed level above the landing point for a 38 kV ESB cable, voids around outfalls, defective or missing flap valves, deformations in clutch points and spalling/cracks in the concrete capping beam. The aim of the works is to improve the water tightness of the Quay Wall while maintaining and locally improving the structural integrity of the Wall. The contractor’s scope of works will comprise but not be limited to site set up and licencing, stakeholder engagement, ancillary site works, pre execution defect and geometric surveys, utility surveys, execution design of the repair solutions, temporary works, structure movement monitoring, construction of the sealing and repair solutions, reinstatement of the footpath and carriageway, and traffic management. The successful tenderer will also be appointed PSCS.
