Galway County Council NRPO General Description of Works The proposed works of the Athenry Northern Relief Road – Western Section, which comprises approximately 940m of 10.5m wide carriageway, a roundabout, paths, cycleway, surface water drainage, ponds, street lighting, traffic calming islands, hedging, signage, line marking, accomodation works and all associated works. The proposed works take place on a green field site, while connecting to the existing road network at Ballygarraun South, at the existing roundabout (at Presentation College Athenry) and at the junction of the L3103 and Athenry Northern Relief Road – Centre Section at Ballygarraun South. The L3103, will terminate at this location on completion of the Athenry Northern Relief Road – West Section. The new junction layout at this location is part of these works. A new traffic calming island and pedestrian crossing will be required to be constructed on the Athenry Northern Relief Road – Centre section with modifications required to the paths, cycleway, and kerb lines to facilitate. A turning area will be required to be constructed on the closed section of the L3103, with kerbing, surface drainage, signage, barriers, and road surfacing included. All other associated works required are also included. Scope of Works The scope of Works involves everything that is contained within the Works Requirements. As a guide, the Works comprise, but are not limited to, the following: • Acceptance of Appointment as Project Supervisor for the Construction Stage (PSCS) and perform the duties of PSCS in accordance with the Health and Safety Authority requirements. • Temporary Traffic Management including provision of pedestrian and vehicular access to all premises affected by the Works. • Site Clearance. • Temporary and permanent fencing. (the site has been fenced - a small bit of permanent fencing outstanding) • Drainage and services. • Drainage and utilities. • Surface Water Drainage. • Proposed utilities: Installation of communications and electrical ducting and connection to existing. • Earthworks. • Pavements: Re-alignment and new surfacing on existing roads. • Kerbs, Footways and Paved Areas, including proposed cycle tracks, renewed footpaths, tactile paving, etc. • Traffic Signs and Road Markings throughout scheme extents. • Public Lighting including the re-location of existing lighting columns. • Landscaping including Top soiling, seeding, tree clearing. • Accommodation Works as required. • All other Works as described or inferred on the drawings or the Works.
