Convert CPD courses into an online video series

Published

Description

Over the next eighteen months, Cardiff University plans to convert three – possibly four – CPD (Continuing Professional Development) short courses from in-person to online delivery. The content of these in-person courses are technical and have either already been finalised or are soon to be so. They are supporting the growth of the compound semiconductor cluster across South Wales, known as the CSconnected cluster. Compound semiconductors are enabling next generation technologies, such as lidar, 6G, driverless cars etc.We are seeking an external media production company to convert some CPD courses from in-person delivery to a series of videos, for online delivery. We anticipate this to involve working directly with the course creators to film them delivering their PowerPoint presentations, and subsequently to work with them on editing and presenting their content in a way that is engaging for the learner. This may involve:- coaching/assisting course creators during the filming process, to be as engaging as possible in the delivery of their presentations;- choosing local filming locations of interest and with good lighting;- creating 2D or 3D animation to help explain complex concepts;- sourcing stock imagery/video to help illustrate points and keep the viewer engaged;- creating some practical demonstration to showcase concepts;- simplifying the information presented on-screen at any one time, to enable a better learner experience;- working with the course creators to produce a brief ‘welcome to the course’ video (note this content is not yet developed but can be prepared prior to filming);- any other creative suggestions that will lead to a positive online learning experience. Cardiff University’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Unit is leading the development of a suite of short courses designed both to up-skill professionals employed across the CSconnected cluster and re-skill those seeking a change of career into this growing sector. These courses have been developed in partnership with the CSconnected cluster organisations, as well as some specialist institutions, and form part of a collaborative project known as CSconnected Strength in Places Fund. By converting in-person content to online these courses will become more accessible to a wider audience, including an international market. CSconnected is the world’s first compound semiconductor cluster so it’s important that the final videos have a professional look and feel.Preferred filming locations are either Cardiff University, Swansea University, CSA Catapult (in Newport), or at your own studio (providing it’s within South Wales).(WA Ref:148229)
